Frank Beglin, DDS, MS

Dr. Beglin has specialized in the practice of Orthodontics since 1997. He moved to Carson City in September of 2005, after practicing in Napa, California for the previous eight years, to join Dr. Coombs’ practice. Together Drs. Coombs and Beglin will continue to provide the best possible Orthodontic care to patients in their three office locations: Carson City, Dayton and Yerington.

Dr. Beglin received a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition from the University of California at Berkeley. He received his degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery from The Ohio State University in 1991. Dr. Beglin then completed a one year General Practice Residency at the Veterans Hospital in San Francisco, followed by practicing family dentistry for the next two years in the same city. He returned to The Ohio State University for three years of Orthodontic residency and received a specialty certificate in Orthodontics and the degree of Master of Science in 1997.

Dr. Beglin’s Master of Science thesis received an award of special merit in a national competition sponsored by the American Association of Orthodontists and was published in the Journal of the American Association of Orthodontists.

Dr. Beglin has been involved with the leadership of his local dental society as well as the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists. He is member of the American Dental Association, Nevada Dental Association, Northern Nevada Dental Society, American Association of Orthodontists, Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists, and Nevada Orthodontic Society. Dr. Beglin is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics.

When not hard at work providing beautiful smiles, Dr. Beglin loves to spend time with his wife, Emily, and their two young daughters, Jill and Karen. His favorite recreational activity is cycling and he also enjoys skiing, hiking, fishing, camping, golf and travel.

 

John Coombs, DDS

Dr. Coombs has specialized in Orthodontics in the Carson City area since 1973. He has maintained satellite practices in Yerington since 1995 and Dayton since 2005. Dr. Coombs has continually kept his offices current with the latest technology in order to insure the most advanced treatment available.

Dr. Coombs received his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Utah in 1967. In 1971 he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. He completed his formal dental education at the University of Southern California where he received his Certificate of Orthodontics in 1973.

The art and science of Orthodontics is an ongoing learning process and Dr. Coombs aggressively pursues the most advanced techniques and information by attending lectures and learning seminars. He belongs to numerous study clubs and feels learning and teaching are of ultimate importance. Dr. Coombs has talked at local civic groups and has often presented to schools discussing the importance of proper dental health and a healthy diet.

During the 30 years Dr. Coombs has lived and practiced in Northern Nevada he has continually been active in community organizations and services. He has sponsored many youth sports and takes a special interest in the Boys' and Girls' Club.

The "great outdoors" has a hold on Dr. Coombs. He enjoys skiing, fly fishing, swimming, and bicycling. He and his wife, Susan, enjoy traveling, playing golf together, cooking, and friends. He and Susan have three grown sons, Christopher, Ryan, and Travis.

Practicing clinical dentistry is Dr. Coombs' professional passion but he is active in organized dentistry as well. He has served on national organizational committees and has held offices in regional and state dental societies. He is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists, the Nevada Orthodontic Society, the American Dental Association, and the Nevada Dental Association. He is the past President of the Nevada Orthodontic Society and was a director for Nevada to the Board of Directors of the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontics.
