Traditional Metal Braces
With traditional metal braces, brackets are bonded to the teeth or attached to bands that encircle the teeth. An archwire is inserted in the brackets and secured to the brackets by colored alastics or metal ligature ties.
Damon® Brackets
Damon® braces were invented by Dr. Dwight Damon. The Damon® bracket utilizes (sliding-door) technology known as "self-ligation" that allows the wire to slide back and forth within the bracket. Some report less friction and qicker tooth movement due to self ligarting bracket technology.
Drs. Coombs & Beglin primarily use the Damon System of high-tech brackets and archwires.
Damon ClearTM
Damon Clear is a crystal-clear, high-tech bracket that is fabricated out of a strong polycrystalline material and does not stain or discolor. It's clear door covers the wire in the braces making it less conspicuous.
Invisalign®
The Invisalign System is a series of clear retainers—called aligners—that have been generated by computer simulation to gradually move the teeth. This system is available to adult patients with limited orthodontic alignment problems. Ask us if you are a candidate for the Invisalign system.
